Þorvaldseyri

Location

Þorvaldseyri is a historic farm located beneath Iceland’s most famous volcano, Eyjafjallajökull. The volcano has erupted relatively frequently since the last glacial period, most recently in 2010. The eruption in 2010 that affected so many flights seriously endangered the future of the farm. Located on Icelands Ring Road, just off the main road on Iceland’s South Coast, Þorvaldseyri is a great place to stop while admiring the many sites along this stretch.

Nearby places: Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, Hvolsvöllur, Sólheimajökull
